Covenant Love

We all love, and are loved in return. And we have our own approaches on how we want to be loved.

And if we love God, we ought to love Him in the way He wants to be loved. This is through our obedience.

We can learn a lot from the Israelites at the time where they were wandering for 40 years before they entered the Promised Land. Their experiences can teach us on how we are going to show Him the deepest kind of love we can give to Him.

And if there are things I have learned from them, here are some of these:

1. Our relationship with God should be valued like all others.
A relationship is a two way channel where there is give and take. But sometimes, we don't appreciate what God has done for us. We sometimes don't want to do what He wants us to do.

As a result, we might not grasp the wonderful things He has stored for us. If we want our relationship with Him to flourish, we should learn to trust Him to make it so.

2. God can be so many things in your life once we get to know Him more.
God can be described in so many things. But once we get to know Him more, we get to experience more of who He is. And when He works in our lives, we can really attest on who He is to us.

If there are things to describe simply who God is, it's that He is a holy God. This is why He doesn't like sin. He speaks to us, therefore we should hear or listen to Him. He is a wise God. And most importantly, He is alone God.

3. God wants us to love Him with our everything, and love our neighbors as ourselves.
In loving Him, all His commandments sum up into these two basic things to obey. If we know how to do these, we can manage the rest. And in loving others, we ought to treat them like a good villager does.

He knows how to deal with his fellow villagers well. He treats them like his family of his own blood, in giving the love, care and support they need. He knows how to dwell in the teachings of the villagers before him, and pass them on to the next generation of villagers with a good legacy.

4. We get our fruits when we learn to love God.
If we learn to love God in obedience and we carefully follow all His given commands, we are promised from Him His fullest blessings. The opposite happens if we don't.

When we choose to obey, we can see that He has set His commands in such a way that it will bring us good welfare. This is an expression of God's love for us, and we ought to give back all that He's done for us by loving Him in obedience.

5. God will be with us in whatever endeavor we go through.
Given that we know the kind of love relationship God wants for us, He will be us with whatever journey we're taking. We just need to know ourselves that the journey cannot be done alone. There are people along the way who will aid us in order to reach our desired end.

We can be assured that His presence will be with us in this pursuit because of two things. We are one of those chosen to be His people, His treasured possession. And also, He simply loves us.

This is a kind of love we can show in our every day walk with Him. And once we do, we can see His faithfulness. This is shown when He keeps his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep His commands.
