How’s every day for you? Stressful? Tiring?

How do you feel? Rushed? Anxious?

How have you been lately? Have you been mentally and physically exhausted?

Do small things easily irritate you? Do you count the days until your day off, but find yourself unhappy when it comes?

How have your relationships been? Do you take their word to slow down from your busy-ness? Do you worry about what they think of what you do? Do you easily take things from them personally?

And how’s your spirit been? Do you still feel the joy of your daily work? Do you feel unfocused and easily distracted? Have you ended up being dry inside out?

If Yes is the answer to most or all of these questions, then it's time to take a break. Take some space.

I know it’s challenging. In a time where every hour doesn’t seem to allow us to sleep, we still need time for us to breathe, heal, and recharge. After all, our life balance is the bottom line. And it has always been that.

And as a busy individual, I can attest to this. Our needed space is of utmost importance. So how do we look for this? I'll be sharing a few things.

1. Find me time.
In this world of noise, we need to be mindful of how we are. And taking a few minutes to unwind from the daily life grind can help.

This can be a time for us to be who we are when we're by ourselves. We can take this time to talk to ourselves. We can check ourselves if we're still in good condition. When we realize that something is wrong, we can work on ways to settle it.

Having this time makes you feel renewed. You can know yourself better. You gain new perspectives. You feel more confident to take on the next day. And most importantly, you get the peace and calmness you need. And so I say, There's no harm in paying attention to yourself.

2. Learn to say No.
Sometimes, we need to not say Yes to all things. I'm reminded that just because I could do it doesn't mean I should do it. With life situations that vary every day, we shouldn't just take and accept everything asked of us. We should also weigh all factors.

When tasks can be done the next day, we can do them by that time. When there are gatherings we don't need to attend, we can just go straight home and take a rest. When we have prior commitments, we can focus on them. Those things that can't be worked on due to these commitments can be agreed upon. We can work with someone to help us with them.

At the end of the day, it's about knowing your limits. It can take practice. But if we know when to say Yes or No well, we can set a balance on what we can and can't prioritize.

3. Make life simple.
I'm sure we all want to live lives simply. Life is already difficult. Why do we need to complicate it further?

I suggest these ways to do this:

a.) Look for efficient and effective ways to do everyday things.
When you do this, you have more time and energy to work on other priorities. You also have more time to give rest for yourself after.

b.) Lift up all troubles.
Are there worries and concerns that trouble you? Lift them up in prayer. I still believe in its power. The fact that they are heard and worked on by the heavens above is assuring. Having that faith eases us and keeps us in trust that a bigger plan is in store despite any situation.

c.) Clear out what's needed.
Just like removing clutter when cleaning our room, we need to do clear out things inside us that are kept for long. It might be financial debt, unresolved conflicts, or emotional baggage. Life's too short to carry them for long. It may be hard at first. But the space you get that comes after is worthwhile.

d.) Always be reminded of the essentials.
Life will always put us on the ground on what's important. Let go of the things that you don't really need. Know that you have all the things you need to get by every single day.

When you live simply, you'll always get the things that really matter. And it's more than enough.

It's always good to have some space. We still need to breathe once in a while. I hope that we don't waste any given time on space. We enjoy every minute of it. So now, it's time to get some.
