Apprentice

You have a chance to witness a day in the life of an influential person you admire most. Will you grab it?

I'm sure you will. You'll spend the day learning from this person's wisdom and experiences.

Now, you have a chance to learn from the "greatest Man of all time." This Man paid the penalty for our sins so that we can have reconciliation with Him for eternity, all done out of unconditional love. He gives peace, hope, healing, and freedom. He's a model of what we should be, the character intended to be by our Creator.

Will you grab it? I'm sure you will. And the good news is you can learn from Him every day.

Are you willing to commit to this lifelong learning? Are you eager to embody this model in your walk and talk? If you do, then come along.

If there's a core point of this model, it's summarized in one word: love

It's a model that encourages us to love God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strengths. From there, we also love one another as we love ourselves. We all know that the latter isn't easy. We can list all its complications, but it's the only way to show the world that we are His disciples, His lifelong students.

Life has its unfair realities, and we've experienced these from people we meet who make them. Difficult people, crazy ones, even creepy ones - you name it. They judge us, misinterpret us, criticize us unfairly, abuse us, maltreat us, betray us - everything that causes unimaginable pain for us to be hurt deeply. How do we respond to them?

Do we still show love?

Are we still showing kindness and goodness to them?

Are mercy and grace still showing in us?

Is gentleness one of the core traits we give them?

I can say that the highest feat that we've embodied in this model is when we can deeply love and forgive and accept them for who they are despite their flaws. We have an understanding of why they do the way they do. And also, we had been there. But it's only by God's love, mercy, and forgiveness that we've been changed for the better and for real. So if He did it to us, why can't we? Through it all, goodness will always triumph over anything. It will come in time.

For those new on the journey, let's start planting our seeds. For those who have been journeying for some time, how are we today? How are we in our walk with God? Are we still learning? Are we still making that conscious effort to follow His example always? How mindful are we on this? How do we ensure that we're still on track to becoming His apprentice?

Wherever you are in the journey, we must keep in mind these questions:

1. Are we maintaining our unconditional love for others?

Life can pull us from all sides and sway us like a tree's branches. We need to find our trunk so that we can withstand any wind. From there, do we grow in ever-deeper roots in His love?

How are we growing unconditional love in ourselves? What is it like in us?

Do we have a heart that never runs out of love? Is it still sacrificial? Is it a love that can give freely, not needing to earn it? Is it a love that's never lost? Is it a choice we make every day despite any circumstance? Is it surrendering all expectations? Do you find yourself free to show this love to others? Do you give room for forgiveness to allow unconditional love to grow?

It can be hard and painful at times to cultivate this every day. But the selflessness that comes in our transformation process is liberating from within. It makes us truly human firstly. Selflessness will bear its fruit as we heal others by love.

2. Are we mindful every day to carry ourselves strong and healthy?

Healthy well-being allows us holistic strength, enabling us to respond to the people and circumstances surrounding us rightly. We can serve others and lead others effectively in His love.

Let that fuel start with ourselves, and may we maintain it well. When we do, we can love better. Our faith can be so much more than blessed. We can show the heart of faith, humility, and gratitude at its best. We can strengthen our relationships better as we commit to applying the principles of His Word. We can deepen our growth more as we study and embrace it. We can continue fruitfully to be His disciple and walk in His way. Every day can be so much more meaningful when we're on this.

We are children of God. God is love. Therefore, we are children of love. With us created in His image and likeness, this is an innate attribute in us. It's up to us to develop that.

The world still needs love. The yearning is still there. It serves as a reminder to bring and offer that love. We can carry that force, and no barrier can try to stop this.

Love brings back the healing and redemption we and our whole world needs. Let love show when we treat others, make amends, serve others' welfare, or decide our next life steps. Let love revolve us in everything.

Let that love be sincere, for we have a God like that showing that love to us. And when we can truly embody the being that He is, through the work of the Holy Spirit, we can truly show that we are His apprentices.
