Firm Charge

Which do you prefer: a life of ease or a life that rewards due to hard work?
Do you choose the well-trod path or the road less traveled?
Do you prefer a vice or a virtue?

Do you want to see yourself embedded in courage, temperance, justice, and wisdom?

Do you want to know how to command yourself and demand the best of yourself even when no one is looking? It can be challenging, but it takes courage to live like that because it sets you apart. It finds greatness in you.

How are you dealing physically?

We're in a battle with our physical form. We should learn to master it and bring it to its full potential. As we age or get sick, we should learn to wrest life from it while we can. We never know when the game when our bodies will be taken away from us. We shouldn't waste it.

Our bodies are training grounds, a proving ground for the mind and soul. For this, we should develop the fortitude required for the chosen path. Through this, we go the distance and steer clear of the roadblocks. Whatever pain and physical limits we're experiencing, we keep going. We refuse to quit.

How do we do this? Here's a list of them:

* Get up early in the morning.
We can attack our best while at our freshest time of the day.

* Find time to move and be active.
For by these, we're strengthened, and we become capable of enduring hardship. We can be ready for anything life brings us.

* Quit being a slave to anything that hampers.
* Avoid those more than necessary.
* Clean up those that need cleanup.
* Show up at all times.
* Work on the small stuff right.
* Hustle always.
* Slow down when needed.
* Dress up appropriately in a situation.
Practice and practice more when needed.
* Keep on working lovingly.

* Seek discomfort.
The world is conspiring against us by degrading our ability to endure even the slightest difficulty.

Manage the load. Rest if needed.
* Maximize sleep. It's an act of character.
* Know what you can endure.

All of these show that we remind the body who's in charge. We conquer our bodies before they conquer us.

How are you dealing mentally and emotionally?

Our inner domain can be chaotic - bad moods, temptation, impulses, and others. In all of these, we need self-restraint. We need to know how to take everything in moderation, not only in what we do but also in how we think and feel. It's like the head and heart working together to make a system of how we rule over ourselves.

It may be less charismatic, but it survives. It stabilizes. It's the ability to make good of any situation, to find the opportunity to grow and improve in circumstances, and to do these with composure. Despite limitations, we can do it creatively, consciously, and calmly. It's an all-consuming, full-time thing, but it can be an impressive journey.

How do we do this? Here's a list of them:

Look at everything in a better light.
Keep the main thing the main thing.
Focus always.
* Wait for the fruitful reward.
* Don't seek too much perfectionism.
* Do the hard thing first.
* Get back up.
* Battle with pain well.
* Battle against pleasure.
* Fight the provocation.
* Beware of the madness.
* Find strength in silence.
* Hold your fire. Shoot at the right time.
* Control your ambition.
* Use money well.
* Get better every day.
* Share the load.
* Respect time.
* Put up boundaries.
* Do your best always.

How are you dealing spiritually?

The spirit needs to be fueled with stillness and balance. It's a gear to draw from ourselves so that we can give back in return. This brings us self-sufficiency, purpose, clarity, and power. It's where we can make our destiny in a higher place of consciousness, being, and excellence. It's where we find that it's possible to gain the world and keep our souls.

How do we do this? Here's a list of them:

Be tolerant of others and strict with yourself.
Make people better.
Show grace under pressure.
* Carry the load for others.
* Be kind to yourself.
* Give away power if you don't need it.
* Turn the other cheek.
* Make an exit if needed.
* Endure the unendurable.
* Be the best in yourself always.
* Be flexible.
* Be unchanged by success.

This is shared in various aspects. But it's holistic because we don't want a hellish existence right there while we're alive. This isn't deprivation, as it brings rewards. We may miss out on a few pleasures, but living on the other side of the road fails us to fully realize our own potential.

We don't do it because of personal satisfaction but of ambition in mind. We never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. We go to the right length and no further. We do the right thing even if it costs us.

We do it because it's how we free ourselves. It's how we save ourselves from the other side of the road. It's hard, but we choose it because, in the long run, it's actually the only way.

We're responsible for our own conditioning. We have to monitor our own intake and decide our own standards. We have the power over our actions and choices. It's our obligation, and it needs determination and toughness. And we can prove it by the lives we lead.

At the end of the day, we're to have a healthy body, a wise mind, and a willing nature. Choose to be in control. When we can control ourselves, we can elevate ourselves. That's self-discipline.
