Stretch Zone

We go through life in a cycle of continuous changes and challenges. Do we allow ourselves to be evolved by them?

Can we handle the pressures that come with them? Do we allow discomfort to push us? And do we allow ourselves to learn from them?

Why are these ones important to ponder on? And why do we always need to drive ourselves for these?

It all points to one fact. We're all made and designed to grow.

Its how it is. It's in our nature to adapt to every new circumstance we meet to survive. It's innate in us that we learn about it. We find ways to deal with it so that we know what to do the next time it happens again.

When we become open to learning new things, we become wiser and better. And it feels rewarding when we become that. That's why it's also innate in us to know more. So this learning cycle goes on and on until we find ourselves growing in remarkable ways we couldn't imagine. This means we can't stay in a rut all the time.

Let's have a self-check.
  • How are we on our journey?
  • How do we respond to every situation we go through? Do we settle or rise above them?
  • Do we still have that growth mindset in us?
If we're doing well with our pursuit of growth, then keep going. If not, then that's something to address.

So how do we go for growth every single time? Here are a few points I'm pointing out:

1. Check your growth progress.
There are times we go through a point of progress. There are times we don't. But how do we deal with the times that we don't?

What's making us stagnate? Is it fear? Is it the loss of excitement? Are we going through the same old routine over and over again? Do we find ourselves not achieving any new or significant in the past few months?

If so, we need to shake things up. Let's do something different from the usual. We can read a book, watch at least one informative video a day, or work on a new hobby. Let's find what inspires us to achieve our goals. If we know this, then it can motivate us to accomplish them.

If our planned goals overwhelm us with the needed work, it's okay to take one step at a time. Never be afraid to make a mistake. It's still progress because at least we're doing something, and we're learning from it. In these ways, we can keep ourselves progressing as we seek to grow.

2. Be in the present moment.
Our focus should be on what happens in the now. What can we do in the reality of today? How are we with ourselves, and how are we with others?

If we need to give ourselves a break, we shouldn't think twice about doing so. There are times we need to take a vacation from ourselves. We can use that time out for self-reflection. We can use this chance to renew our perspective in life. We can ask ourselves, "What do we really want to do in life that will serve as our purpose?"

We can also use this chance to listen to others. Let's give them a listening ear and do what we can to help them in what they're going through. It's the greatest gift we can give to them.

3. Take life with confidence.
We shouldn't be afraid to face anything life gives us. Life has its twists and turns, but the only way is forward. So we need to experience them and learn what we can from them. One day, these can be used when a future need arises.

When difficulty comes, we should know how to be at peace. Even though we didn't choose the situation, it shouldn't let us affect our self. We know how to be calm. We understand our strengths and weaknesses. We ride on with change and never fear disagreement.

And when we reach a certain level of growth, we should never forget to keep our feet on the ground. That's how confidence is formed. We shouldn't allow ego to come in our way. It's going to be difficult for ourselves and for the people around us if we have that kind of attitude.

Growth is mainly associated on a personal level. But I believe that it can also be on a relational level. When we know how to grow with others, we experience growth in ourselves. And if we can create an environment of growth, imagine the heights we can reach. It's a holistic level to speak. I hope we can come to a point where we always strive to reach our maximum potential. How much can we grow to become the best we can be?

At the end of the day, this is important because of one fact. We all want to live life without regrets. We want to be really alive while we're still alive. So if we allow ourselves to grow, we can live a life fully lived. This is key, so go for it.
