Cross Walk

"God is good."
"God is able."
"God is trustworthy."
"We have a promise-keeping God."
"In times of pain and loss, the timeless God is our greatest comfort."
"We can experience God's powerful presence even in the storms of our lives."
"God attends to our every need."

"God is with us in our waiting."
"We may face situations beyond our reserves, but never beyond God's resources."
"Looking to Jesus can give us the courage to face the challenges in our lives."
"God gives us the right perspective."
"God's love for us is undeserved yet unchanging."
"God offers us peace as He holds us up and carries through every trial."
"True freedom is found in following Christ."
"Speak of the matchless love of Christ for those who need to hear."

Even now, we still need these reminders in our lives. And that's a good reminder in itself.

One of the great enemies of hope is forgetting God's promises. We could drive ourselves to pessimism for that. The Holy Spirit helps remind us day by day of these. But we also need to consider that we should be responsible for reminding ourselves of these truths.

We, humans, are actually good at forgetting. Some memories fade over time and are replaced with new ones. Some memories become really bad when there are things that make us feel uncomfortable, or even those others have done. We automatically forget these things as a way of protecting ourselves against our own failings, and this also includes God's actions and also His character.

The mind is so powerful. It can talk to itself by what we remind ourselves of. We can fill our minds with what is truth. But we can also fill it with greater ones. God is greater than anything we encounter in this world.

And I find it helpful to meditate on His Word first thing we wake up in the morning. We need constant reminders every day about who we are as followers of the Cross. All we like sheep, we prone to go astray.

God's Word is not just only spiritual nourishment. It's a life manual, a love letter written for us, a reminder of His faithful and wonderful deeds to His people. It's when we know that everything we do should remember Him always and glorify Him. He's with us on this walk.

So how do we get to remind ourselves of God, His Word, and His promises day by day?

1. Know your foundation.
Where does your faith stand in any circumstance? Are we still standing on Him and His promises?

When we make Him our foundation, it's going to be wonders. When we grow deep into His Word, we become stable in life. Whether it be family, ministry, career, or in your emotions, we know how to be fruitful. We become fruitful because of the wisdom and knowledge we get through Him. And from applying it to ourselves, we can grow and bear fruit. We know how to stand firm and happy in Him in any season of life.

2. Make room for these thoughts.
This should be first nature to us. From the moment we get up, we're given a chance to follow Him and to do His work. And we are to bring His message in such a way that we reflect Him. That's why we make time to put His Word into our hearts every day. It's more than just the lamp into our feet and the light into our paths. It's our life as we keep on living.

Though the Word remains the same, it can speak to us in different ways. We need to be open to what each passage can speak more to us. After all, we're lifelong learners in this journey. We need to grow day by day, and this is one of the ways to do so. When we're filled with the Word, our minds can be renewed to be aligned to His ways. We can have thoughts that can make us live His will in our lives.

3. Live these words in you as you go on.
What makes us a person who's a follower of the Way? With the things that happen every day, how does he respond as salt and light? Can we bring that message of hope and be a true manifestation of God's love at the same time?

We need to let the Word radiate in us inside out, and we show it through our lives. It's a kind of life that really knows how to love, for this is where we're known as His people. We say and do what we need to do out of it. When we bring out that love genuinely, it's going to be a different kind of impact. And I can imagine more than that.

As we continue to take the middle mile of our life journey, let's continue to move forward with the confidence we have in Him. It may be difficult, but it'll be worth it. Let's continue to embrace the path ahead, endure it, and entrust everything to Him.

Let's continue to thank Him for the new life each day. Let's continue to fellowship with our family. Let's continue to read His Word. Let's continue to live a life pleasing to Him. Let's continue to follow His lead. Let's continue to find our strength in Him. Let's continue to pray. Let's continue to live our faith. We can go on and on with this every year, but He's with us on this. Let's journey on.
