High-Stake

Our lives are the sum of what we do physically, mentally, and spiritually. What we do becomes a habit. Bad habits come back to bite us. Good habits come back to bless us. In short, what you put into it, you'll get out of it.

We have the power to make or break them. And it's exciting to hear. It may seem impossible to do, but there's good news. Every habit can be learned. We must be willing to experiment until we find a way to have it.

But let's take time to reflect first. What are the habits we want to unlearn? What about those we want to learn or even relearn?

If we want to make or break our habits effectively, then we must:

1. Take the first step.
We must get our feet wet in the water. Now's the time. But there may be hesitations.

I have my weaknesses.
But they bring opportunities to bring out the supernatural strength we can get and experience ourselves.

* I'm not ready yet.
But if we continue to wait until we're ready, we might end up waiting until the day we die.

* I'm waiting for the right opportunity.
If we keep on waiting, we might not find it at all.

Make that first step. We can start with small steps, and then you can progress further.

2. Walk the road ahead.
For trees to grow, they need air, water, soil, and light. But if we limit them to these, they will grow to a certain height and fall over. They need resistance like winds to grow stronger barks and deeper roots.

Same with us. There are times we experience a few falls and a few fails. But it's okay. It's part of the process. Laugh off, get back up, and try again. Work through it, and we can become better and stronger than before. From that learning, add to it an element of fun. And when you need to retreat, do so. Slow down the pace. That can work wonders for forward progress.

3. Set the plans.
Write down the plans in mind. They should be measurable, meaningful, and maintainable. Align them to the bigger and better vision we want to accomplish. Not only does this gives us clarity and precision with what we want to do, but it also gives us a better memory when we mark things on paper and pen.

Once written, we make a commitment to them and fulfill them. We give ourselves deadlines for such. No loopholes for them. Take inventory of them, and keep at them one day at a time. We can even stack each plan with another one to motivate us more to do it.

4. Change the game.
We do ourselves when we make or break our habits. If we want to transform, we go against the grain. We do something that's never been done. We take our prompts and dare to be different. It can change how we do things.

5. Remember the future.
When we feel overwhelmed by our present circumstances, we always ask, "Is this where you stop?" We put into mind the future we're fighting for. Remember the lessons of the past and connect them to the present. And most importantly, never lose faith at the end of the story.

In doing these, we can win the day. But how do we do this one day at a time?

1. Change the life course.
We can turn the story around and take the lead. Every single day, we take time to be still. We heed the voices that prompt us to live the story we want. We always fix our focus and count our blessings every step of the way. And we always remember who we really are, carving the identity we want to be.

2. Do the best you can with what you have.
It takes learning and growth to do that. The obstacle is not our enemy; it is the way. Our present challenges prepare us for future opportunities. We do it despite being scared. We counterbalance while walking the journey. We connect the dots so that we can see the bigger picture.

3. Go through challenges with courage.
We encounter these every single day. They're hard, but we do it. It builds strength. We do everything we can and ensure we've done them. We always conquer ourselves first. We make decisions against ourselves, refusing when needed. We should live in our truth, not by the lies around us.

4. Take one step at a time.
We aim to get better every day, no matter the progress. We make consistency our effort for consistency. We start small and take our little steps. We do them like the big things. We exercise our authority to change our atmospheres on the storms we face. We tolerate what we want to dominate us. We make the numbers of our goals.

5. Take risks.
Either take the challenge and get what we can gain or play safe and regret afterward. Sometimes, we must change our routine even if it's less convenient. But we always pick our fights. We keep coming out of the corner and fight one more round. And we do things the soonest we can.

6. Make the most of time.
With influences from our past and future, we manage the minutes and the moments today. We make every day count. We align and bear our priorities. We audit our time to ensure we do the right thing, the right way, at the right time. We also make long-term goals and pursue them like a game.

7. Sow the future.
We imagine and create tomorrows that are to come. We do things today that will make a difference a hundred years from now. We get in the right room with the right people. We manifest with faith the future to come. When we anticipate a problem, we solve it before it happens. And we also set big-sized goals.

As Mark Batterson would say, "Almost anyone can accomplish anything if they work at it long enough, hard enough, and smart enough." We are capable of more than we can imagine. And we can win with our stories one day at a time. It will be our own adventure, and we aim to make it in every part of our journey. The choice is ours to make or break.
